Introduction to Colored EPDM Plastic Flooring for Kindergartens

The colored surfaces in community squares or kindergarten children’s parks are primarily made of PVC flooring. The construction of colored PVC flooring requires practicality and innovation, along with strict construction standards, to create qualified PVC flooring. This ensures consumer acceptance and market vitality, thereby attracting more consumers.

Colored PVC flooring is mainly composed of colored EPDM granules and adhesive. Its main component is ethylene propylene diene monomer (EPDM) rubber. EPDM rubber possesses good chemical stability and strong wear resistance, elasticity, oil resistance, aging resistance, and UV resistance. Therefore, the EPDM rubber content in the colored EPDM granules directly determines the chemical and physical properties of the granules.

The adhesive for the EPDM granules is the glue, and the performance of the glue directly affects the overall performance of the flooring. Just like with cement flooring, no matter how good the sand and stones are, cement won’t work; the entire floor will still rot.

The strength of the glue directly determines the lifespan of the flooring. If the glue strength is insufficient, the flooring will separate from the granules and layers. If the cured glue is too brittle, the flooring surface

will be easily worn and cracked. The glue also affects the appearance of the flooring. All the granules are coated with glue. Inferior glue will turn black after curing, resulting in a dull color on the flooring. High-quality adhesives exhibit increasing transparency, giving the entire surface a glossy, waxed appearance.

Common EPDM colored granules on the market are categorized by adhesive content: 8%, 13%, and 30%. Higher adhesive content improves the material’s chemical and physical properties, most importantly enhancing its elasticity and resistance to plasticity. Adhesive content is directly related to the unit price. When selecting materials, it’s crucial to ensure they are usable, durable, and not wasteful. 10% is used for colored surfaces and synthetic running tracks in kindergartens, 13% for mixed running tracks, and 17% for high-traffic, high-impact areas like basketball courts. The usage principle is sufficient, but requirements cannot be lowered.

Rubber flooring covers are environmentally friendly, offer high shock absorption, and are slip-resistant, reducing injuries from falls and providing protection and comfort for adults and children during exercise. Safety floor mats are durable and easy to clean.
